Event is Full – Fleece Hats for Cancer Fighters
February 23, 2020 @ 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm
Let’s brighten the day of a cancer patient!
At this hands-on Inside Out Club event, designed for kids age 3-12, families will make fleece hats and handmade cards with positive messages of hope. We’ll practice empathy and kindness as we care for the sick with our gifts of love. The fleece hats and cards will be donated to Phil’s Friends, a nonprofit that provides support to those affected by cancer. They will mail the cards and fleece hats to individuals fighting cancer, which will give them comfort as they undergo treatments like chemotherapy. Caring for the sick is a great way to teach your kids about the impact we can all have by being socially responsible and giving!
This is a great way to build empathy, demonstrate kindness and have fun volunteering together.
What you need to bring
We’ll provide the fabric and crafting supplies to make the hats and cards. Just bring your family and be ready to make a difference in people’s lives.

About the club
Inside Out Club DuPage (formerly I Support Community) started in September 2012 after seeing the overwhelming need for children to possess a strong foundation in character and community. Our mission is to develop kids with character inside and out.
Inside Out Club opportunities
The Inside Out Club (IOC) is designed to engage kids and families in as many of these four opportunities as possible as they practice character skills and volunteer. Working with teachers, volunteers, parents, school administrators and outside organizations, the Inside Out Club is positively impacting more than 1,400 students and their families. IOC focuses on DuPage County and its needs.
What does Inside Out mean? We work to help students develop the character skills necessary to thrive in their lives, schools, and later in jobs and community. Lessons are based on the foundations of social and emotional learning, which helps people recognize and manage emotions, develop empathy for others, maintain cooperative relationships and make responsible decisions.
