Virtual – Flowers, Postcards & More for Seniors
July 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
More than ever, seniors need love and connection! You can help brighten a senior’s day.
This is a fun way for kids to show love for seniors, practice acceptance and empathy as well as volunteer with your family:
Social distancing can be hard for everyone, and together we will develop our sense of empathy as we imagine what it might be like right now to be a senior. Many seniors may feel sad as they cannot hug their loved ones, and some may not even have the technology to see loved ones via the internet. Now more than ever, we can help seniors through acts of kindness and love.
At this virtual event, we’ll be making flowers of love and postcards to bring joy to seniors. Additionally, we will talk about and practice acceptance by learning how seniors are just like us.
- Character Traits: Acceptance, Empathy
- Social Causes: Being Socially Responsible
- Nonprofit Partner: Meals on Wheels
PLEASE NOTE: If social distancing guidelines change and our community moves to Phase IV before this event, we will consider having it in-person with live streaming for those that would prefer to stay at home. If this occurs, we will be in contact to your family’s preference. Thank you.
How will this virtual event work?
Register –> pick up supplies –> participate via Zoom –> drop off donation item –> watch the donation delivery
Register – It is $10 per child and we have supplies for 20 children. Space is limited! You must register to reserve your spot(s). (Please Note: If you live too far way to pick-up the supplies, but would still like to participate in the video-learning portion of the event, you can register for the Zoom-only participation for $5 per child.) By registering you are agreeing to this RELEASE/WAIVER. If you are unable to afford the registration fee, please contact Diane Flood at Diane@insideoutclub.org and she’ll be happy to register you for free.
Supplies- Supply pick-up will be at the Inside Out Club Executive Director’s house, which is about a mile west of downtown Naperville, Illinois. The address will be emailed to you when you register. Supplies will be available for pick-up starting at noon the Wednesday before the event. We will email you when the supplies are ready.
Online Participation via Zoom – A Zoom link will be emailed to participants the morning of the event. Please be sure that firstname.lastname@example.org is not set to go to your spam folder.
Drop Off of Senior Gifts- We ask that your gifts for seniors be dropped back off to where you picked up the supplies by the next Wednesday. If you have a senior in your life and would like to use the gift for them, that would be great.
Watch the Donation Delivery- We’ll record our donation trip and send you a link, so that your family can experience the delivery virtually.
